Multi-criteria Logistic Hub Location by Network Segmentation under Criteria Weights Uncertainty (RESEARCH NOTE)

Authors

Abstract:

Third party service providers are locating logistic hub for operating their tasks. Finding a proper location helps them to have better performance in competitive environment. Multiple characteristics of proper location selection faces the decision maker to have a multi criteria decision making problem. Since the location decision is a long term planning, the robustness of the decision is getting more highlighted so a Meta-model can be used to reduce uncertainty effect.  Hub facilities are reducing the serving cost due to economies of scale. In this paper in order to enhance such effect we applied the clustering analysis to find similar regions by consideration of different characteristics. The approach is implemented in an Iranian case study and the validity of the approach has been investigated.

Multi-criteria Optimal Structural Design under Uncertainty

A general framework for multi-criteria optimal design is presented which is well suited for performancebased design of structural systems operating in an uncertain dynamic environment. A decision theoretic approach is used which is based on aggregation of preference functions for the multiple, possibly con#icting, design criteria. This allows the designer to trade o! these criteria in a control...

A multi-criteria decision making approach for location planning for urban distribution centers under uncertainty

Location planning for urban distribution centers is vital in saving distribution costs and minimizing traffic congestion arising from goods movement in urban areas. In this paper, we present a multi-criteria decision making approach for location planning for urban distribution centers under uncertainty. The proposed approach involves identification of potential locations, selection of evaluatio...

Reliable hub-and-spoke network design problems under uncertainty through multi-objective programming

HLP (hub location problem) tries to find locations of hub facilities and assignment of nodes to extended facilities. Hubs are facilities to collect, arrange, and distribute commodities in telecommunication networks, cargo delivery systems, etc. Hubs are very crucial and their inaccessibility impresses on network whole levels. In this paper, first, total reliability of the network is defined bas...

Capacitated single allocation hub location problem - A bi-criteria approach

A different approach to the capacitated single allocation hub location problem is presented. Instead of using capacity constraints to limit the amount of flow that can be received by the hubs, we introduce a second objective function to the model (besides the traditional cost minimizing function), that tries to minimize the time to process the flow entering the hubs. Two bi-criteria single allo...

Hotel Location Problem Using Erlang Queuing Model under Uncertainty (RESEARCH NOTE)

Determining and selecting an appropriate location to construct a hotel is one of the most challenging concerns which hotel industry investors are facing with. In this study we attempt to find a suitable response to this research/application need by a mathematical model using the queueing theory and the fuzzy logic. Therefore hotel, the reception system and travelers accommodations are formulate...
